What's new
New features and improvements, newest first.
September 2026
Sign-in is upfront about recovery trade-offs
Google sign-in and email recovery are convenient, but Muhkoo holds the keys that protect them. The sign-up and account screens now say so, and accounts protected only by Google or email are prompted to add a zero-knowledge method: a password, passkey or recovery phrase.
Read moreSafer syncing between your files and your computer
muhkoo vfs mount now refuses anything that could run code or leak credentials, and --dry-run previews a sync first. If you used --hidden before, check for uploaded .git or .npmrc files and rotate any tokens in them.
Stay signed in on a browser you trust
Tick "Keep me signed in" once and skip the password on every page load for 30 days. Remove the browser from your login methods any time to sign it out.
Read moreYour functions can call AI models, metered like everything else
Functions reach hosted models through one route that counts every call, streaming included, against your app's quota. Your bill and dashboard now show exactly what AI costs.
Read moreProjects open up to twice as fast
Reading many files at once now takes a few requests instead of thousands, so large projects open in seconds in the IDE and the CLI. No code changes needed.

Give every user a filesystem, with folders and undo
client.vfs adds folders, paths and versions on top of file storage, and moving a folder is instant however much it holds. Every write keeps the previous version, so history() and restore() give your users undo that survives a reload.
Your files in the terminal, and synced to disk
muhkoo vfs lets you list, copy, move, search and restore your files from the terminal, and muhkoo vfs mount keeps a folder on disk in sync both ways. Each machine is paired once, and muhkoo devices rm revokes it from anywhere.
Sign in on a TV, without a keyboard
Apps on a TV, kiosk or any device without a keyboard can now show a short code that the user approves at auth.muhkoo.dev/link from a phone or laptop. Muhkoo hosts the approval screens, so you only build the device side.
July 2026
Access tokens for servers, and backend-only tables
Servers, CI jobs and functions can use scoped, expiring access tokens instead of a user sign-in, created in the portal, the CLI or the SDK. Mark a database table backend-only and the browser key is refused, so only your server-side code can reach it.
Read moreRun multi-threaded WebAssembly in your hosted app
Turn on cross-origin isolation in the portal, or add "crossOriginIsolation": true to your provision spec, and your hosted app gets SharedArrayBuffer for tools like ffmpeg.wasm. Your CDN scripts and images keep loading, and no redeploy is needed.
June 2026
Your app keeps working without a connection
Offline support is on by default in the browser: messages, files, key/value data and the database are cached on the device, and changes made offline sync when the connection returns. Two people editing different fields of the same record both keep their changes.
Read moreNew docs on how to build a Muhkoo app
A new Patterns section shows how an app fits together, which storage to use when, and how to write functions and agents that act on your app. The CLI guide now covers CI/CD and per-environment deploys.
Read moreA real test environment for every app
Every app now has test and production environments. Deploy to test at <slug>.test.apps.muhkoo.dev, check your changes, then promote them to production in one click from the portal.
A flat monthly fee for Pay-as-you-go and Small Business
Pay-as-you-go now has a flat $15/mo platform fee and Small Business a flat $199/mo, each on top of the same usage rates. Idle time and egress still cost $0.
Run the whole platform from your terminal
Install the muhkoo CLI with npm i -g @muhkoo/cli to set up an app's tables, agents and functions from one spec file and deploy your site with instant rollback. It also manages apps, keys, domains, releases and logs, and works in CI.
Add sign-in without building a login screen
Add "Continue with Muhkoo" and your users sign in, register and recover their accounts at auth.muhkoo.dev, Google included, with no OAuth setup of your own. client.auth.hosted.login() sends them there and handleCallback() finishes when they return.
Recover an account by email or with Google
Your users can recover a forgotten password with a one-time email code or by signing in with Google, or sign up with Google and no password at all.
A forgotten password no longer locks anyone out
Users can sign in with a passkey, restore access with a 24-word recovery phrase, or change their password. Their identity and data stay the same whichever way they sign in.
Serve your app on your own domain
On a paid plan, add a domain like app.yourcompany.com in the portal and create two CNAME records wherever your DNS lives. Once Muhkoo verifies you own it, the domain goes live with a certificate that renews itself.
Roll back any deploy in one click
Hosting and serverless functions now keep your last 10 releases in the portal. Roll back to any of them in one click, or prune the ones you no longer need.
Host your app on Muhkoo, at its own address
Every app gets <slug>.apps.muhkoo.dev, and one deploy command uploads only the files that changed and goes live instantly, with one-command rollback. Deploys use your app's secret key, so setting up GitHub CI/CD takes three secrets.
Describe an app idea and let Claude build it
The Muhkoo App Builder plugin for Claude Code sets up your backend, scaffolds a React app on @muhkoo/connect and tests it against the live API. Install it with /plugin marketplace add muhkoo/app-builder and /plugin install muhkoo-app-builder@muhkoo, then describe your app.
Agents now finish with a plain-language reply
Prompts from ejectAgentPrompt() now tell an agent to end with a short, plain-language reply after using its tools, instead of going quiet. Available in @muhkoo/connect 0.6.0-alpha.1 and later.
See every rate, and compare costs fairly
The pricing page now lists every rate, including AI and the database, and the estimator has a Simple/Advanced toggle. Its cloud comparison now counts the idle servers and databases other clouds bill around the clock; Muhkoo charges nothing for idle time.
Teach an agent your app, right in your code
Mark up your classes with @MuhkooAgent, @MuhkooSpace, @MuhkooDB and @MuhkooFunction, and ejectAgentPrompt() writes the agent's system prompt for you. Pass it to client.agents.create and the agent knows your channels, tables and functions.
See your app's server logs in the portal
Agent runs, database writes and errors now stream live into the developer portal, with no keys to copy and nothing to set up.
Run your own backend code on Muhkoo
Deploy functions with client.functions or the portal's editor. An HTTP function gets its own URL, and a function bound to a space answers its messages like an agent, with your code as the brain.
Add AI agents that chat in your spaces
Give an agent a persona, a model and triggers, enable it in a space, and it reads and replies to messages there. Manage agents with client.agents or in the developer portal.
Pay only for what your app uses
Requests, messages, key/value reads and writes, and file and key/value storage are now metered and billed monthly. Upgrade, see invoices and track usage in the developer portal.
Give every user their own key/value store
The new client.kv API gives each user a key/value store that follows them across devices, alongside file storage. It's metered per operation and per GB stored, with free-tier allowances to get started.
Four plans and a redesigned developer portal
Choose Free, Pay-as-you-go, Small Business or Enterprise. The portal now shows a full pricing breakdown and per-app usage, and works on your phone.
May 2026
Real-time group messaging with history and file sharing
Spaces bring real-time group messaging with saved history and file sharing, through client.message and client.storage. Files are encrypted on the device before upload.
